India home to 2967 tigers, more than 70% of wild tigers that world inhabits

The total number of tigers today in the country stands at 2967, more than 70% of wild tigers that world inhabits. The average rate of growth at 6% per year and in the last four years, the growth is at 8.32%, the report reads. While in the previous count of the year 2014 the total number stood at 2226, significant growth of 7.62 %.
