95% villages in India have schools within 5 km, government tells Lok Sabha

"As per the Geographic Information System (GIS) based mapping conducted in 2021-22 on government, government-aided and private schools, 95.48 per cent of villages were covered by secondary schools within a distance of five kilometres and 90.55 per cent of villages were covered by senior secondary schools within a distance of seven kilometres," Union minister of state for education Annapurna Devi said.
